Practically

What it’s like to start.

Three steps. The first one’s free.

i.
Browse the team. Get a sense of who we are. No pressure to pick — that’s what the consult is for.
ii.
A free 20-minute call. One of our therapists picks up. We’ll talk through what’s going on and what kind of support would help. No commitment.
iii.
First session. In our Calgary office or online. Most insurance plans cover it.

If the fit isn’t quite right after starting, tell your therapist or the office — we’ll talk through alternatives.

How we think about it

Eclectic by intent. Relationship first.

FP Counselling adopts an “eclectic approach to counselling, wholly dependent on the individual’s needs.” That phrasing matters — we don’t pre-commit to one framework when the people walking in the door don’t fit one. Our therapists are trained across CBT, DBT, EMDR, the Gottman Method, EFT, ACT, IFS, Narrative, Solution-Focused, Compassion-Focused, and Mindfulness-Based work. The shape of your therapy is built around what you’re working on, not slotted into what we happen to know.

Twenty minutes. On the phone. Free.

Tell us what’s going on and ask anything — insurance, format, fees, what a first session looks like. You’ll be on the call with one of our therapists, and we’ll go from there together. If we’re not the right practice for you, we’ll say so.
